“BYRON” A SHORT FILM BY YOLANDE GERALDS,
TO MAKE WORLD PREMIERE AT
2011 HOLLYSHORTS FILM FESTIVAL!
Hollywood, Ca (July 21, 2011) – “BYRON”, a powerful short film directed and executive produced by Yolande Geralds, has been selected to world premiere at the 2011 Hollyshorts Film Festival. HollyShorts will be held August 11-18 at the Arclight Hollywood and will showcase over 300 short films from around the world.
BYRON was directed by award-winning music video/film director Yolande Geralds (www.yolandegeralds.com) and written by Shaqwan Lewis, better known as a Hip Hop MC and your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper “Skillz”. “Byron started as a rap song and developed into so much more.” Says Lewis, who also makes his film debut in the short as “Black”.
Geralds, one of the most sought after music video directors, has completed projects for such A-listers as Estelle, Keri Hilson, Trey Songz and Omarion among others. This is her first short film.
“BYRON is a film about the irony of life and how that irony can effect you in the most unexpected ways,” says Geralds. “I loved the story from the moment I read it and feel very excited about where it can still go from here. We had an excellent cast and I couldn’t be prouder of the results.” Geralds concluded.
This 14 minute drama includes heart-wrenching performances by Cisco Reyes (“Next Day Air”), Nadine Valazquez (“My Name is Earl”) and Dominic Comperatore (“The Good German”) and introduces Phoenix Jakob, an 11 year old actor who superbly enacts the role of “the kid”.
BYRON was beautifully shot by award-winning cinematographer Joseph Labisi and was produced by Lisa Clavelle, Willis Chung, and Isandra Gonzalez.
